In an epoch where criticism is universal, ideals are lowered, and emotions of veneration, reverence, worship, and wonder have been largely marginalised.

Three pieces from the 'Elegies of Sanctity' series, merging laser scans and photopolymer etchings, capturing the intricate decay of three overlooked UK churches in 2023, these works juxtapose modern and traditional imaging techniques, reflect the convergence of nature, spirituality, and time. It unveils a realm where structures, once symbols of human awe, are restructured by nature.
This work commenced with detailed laser scans of these ruined spiritual temples, capturing their intricate decay, architectural splendour, and the relentless encroachment of nature.
The digital point cloud data was then transformed into photopolymer etchings, amalgamating photographic and technical processes that century apart.
This series embraces time paradoxes - juxtaposing past and present, intent and accident, nature and spiritual, growing and decaying phenomena. As humans, we find ourselves standing before these spaces, a portal to the past, while gazing at a fragment of a future shaped by both nature and human intent. ‘Elegies of Sanctity’ rather than presenting a didactic narrative, the series offers a space for contemplation, our fleeting existence and nature’s resilience resonating within us.

“ as a sublime reminder of the passing of all human dreams and devices. ”
